Hey! Thank you for this comment, actually, as it made me rethink what I'd written originally in a moment of heated anger. I saw a comment about the West's debates on abortion and how similar they are to the debates on if a Palestinian life is worthy of living, then I wrote this in one take, posted, hoping it would diffuse my anger and pain of seeing what I saw. It didn't.
After reading this, I realized that this kind of seemed like a piece about abortion rather than the issue I wanted to talk about, which was really Palestinian lives. I've adjusted some paragraphs to better convey that. I did not mean to make a statement on abortion. I am pro-choice, but that's a western term, for a political stance I cannot have in my country.
I meant to speak on Palestinian lives and how disgusting and scary it is to see a video like that, of a fetus, ripped from another body, on my instagram feed. It was jarring. Gory. I wanted this piece to also feel jarring.
